The HU are playing in Milwaukee on 10/15/21!

Do not missThe HU!

As someone who loves music, one of the benefits of downtime during the pandemic shutdown was learning about different bands. A co-worker of mine asked me if I ever heard of The HU. I had not and she directed me to check out two versions of their song “Wolf Totem” and “Wolf Totem” featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach. I recommend you do the same.

The rhythm of the drumming is what my heart locked into, followed by their string instruments, the Tovshuur and Morin Khuur. My goodness just look at the artwork on their instruments! Their throat singing blew me away and I do not recommend you try to throat sing without any guidance.

The HU are not just incredible musicians, who sing in a language I do not need to understand because their music is THAT good, they also share parts of their culture and community with us in such an inviting way.

I spent the next few weeks exploring all things The HU had on YouTube, including their cooking videos and their prior American tour videos. They have great humor and really inspired my curiosity about Mongolia. I decided if we ever get this pandemic behind us, I must also go to Mongolia.

Who are The Hu?

Gala (lead throat singer and Morin Khuur), Enkush (Lead Morin Khuur and throat singer), Jaya (jaw harp, Tsuur, Flute and throat singer), and Temka (Tovshuur). They perfectly blend melodic heavy metal with Mongolian folk music ranging from war cries to beautiful poetry with such sincerity it’s impossible to not feel what they do!

Stunning Merchandise

Then I visited their website and was blown away again because the artwork on their T-shirts is very detailed and stunning. Suddenly I found myself placing an order for their beautiful Mongolian Mothers & Children’s Day T-shirt and of course, their first album, The Gereg, on vinyl!

The shipping was quick and I continue to share both versions of “Wolf Totem” on social media, watching my friends get turned on as I did! Every time I listened to their album, which I still enjoy, I wondered exactly how long before they returned to the US, and if they would route to Milwaukee. Suddenly they announced their US tour and sure enough, they play The Eagles Club on 10/15/21 @ 8:00 pm.

General Admission Tickets, including fees, run $44.32 each and you can get them here:

The HU also has a limited availability meet and greet package, which includes a ticket for the show along with a photograph with the band and other items, for the price of $130.50 (before fees).

Sad But True

Their most recent single is “Sad But True” and you can check it out here:

New album is in the works

The HU spent a good part of their pandemic lockdown working on new material for their sophomore album, which is expected in 2022. I can already say, without any hesitation, I will get it on vinyl! The HU are literally the only band I enjoy for hours without understanding the lyrics while singing with them in my head.
