Akita Gets Down at River Jam
One of the best things about summer is attending an outdoor concert and there is no better place in Charlotte to do this than at the U.S. National White Water Center. The center hosts a free, (yes you heard that right, free!) River Jam concert series every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday during the summer season with a variety of artists ranging from folk to pop to Americana and a little bit of everything in between. Add in the fact that it is a super cool place to take in a show with the backdrop of white water rafting and ziplining with a whole host of food and beverage options to choose from and you indeed have one awesome concert destination.
After over a year of no concerts, I made it my personal mission to make sure to get to a River Jam this summer and my motto of #RiverJamorBust was something I was definitely taking seriously. The stars aligned in just the right way a few Fridays ago and I was able to finally get my groove on and what better band to be playing than Charlotte’s own funkmasters Akita! The band is always tight and puts on one hell of a show and the thousands in attendance seemed to savor each and every moment. People were jamming, kids were dancing, and it was a clear sign from the heavens above that summer was in full swing.
So what are you waiting for, get yourself down to River Jam and find out what all the hype is about!
