Papa Roach and Falling in Reverse are Rockzillas in Pennsylvania

Rockzilla Summer Tour 2022

Arguably one of the biggest rock tours this summer is The Rockzilla Summer Tour featuring Papa Roach, Falling In Reverse, Hollywood Undead, and Bad Wolves. The tour played its biggest show of the tour so far on Tuesday night in Reading, PA at The Santander Arena with the crowd reaching an impressive 7,000 fans.

Bad Wolves 4-1

The show kicked off with Bad Wolves, who are back on their feet and better than ever with new vocalist Daniel Laskiewicz or “DL” for short, formerly the guitarist of The Acacia Strain. The band released their new album Dear Monsters in October of 2021 with tracks like “Lifeline” and “If Tomorrow Never Comes” making a splash on Apple Music and Rock radio.

Bad Wolves began their set with “Sacred Kiss” and evenly split the set with a mix of new material and older work. “Killing Me Slowly” had the crowd singing along but nothing quite like the crowd participation during the band’s hit cover of “Zombie” originally performed by The Cranberries and undoubtedly the song that put Bad Wolves on the map.

The Santander Arena was completely illuminated all around with the lyrics echoing loud enough to be heard through the arena’s hallways. The band wrapped up their 7 song set with “I’ll Be There”.

Hollywood Undead 7-1

Next to hit the stage was Los Angeles’ own Hollywood Undead, with a banner showing the silhouette of the downtown LA skyline and light-up palm trees. Hollywood Undead are on the road in preparation for their new album Hotel Kalifornia which will be released Friday, August 12th. The album has garnered quite the excitement with the album’s singles “Chaos”, “Trap God”, “Wild in these Streets” and “City of The Dead”.

The band hit the stage opening with the new single “Chaos” before playing fan-favorite tracks like “California Dreaming”, “Hear Me Know”, “The Undead” and even throwing in a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues”

Hollywood Undead 5-1

If you’ve never witnessed a Hollywood Undead show it’s a ton of fun and your eyes have to be everywhere as the guys are switching instruments, bouncing all around the stage and delivering all kinds of hijinks like feeding thor roadie alcohol. Hollywood Undead’s 12-song set is a must-see if you’re seeing this tour!

Probably without question one of the biggest bands on this line-up and the tour Co Headliner Falling In Reverse drew in large crowds to this tour. Ronnie Radke and Falling in Reverse are on top of all the charts, Itunes, Spotify, the radio you name it they’re there.

Falling In Reverse 18-1

FIR hit tracks like “Zombified”, “Voices In My Head” and “Popular Monster’ and the presence of vocalist Ronnie Radke on Tiktok make this band a force to be reckoned with. This is Ronnie Radke’s rise up from the dark ashes that once plagued his life and quite literally delivers hope directly to the fans that change is possible.

The band kicked off their set with “Zombified” and from their Falling in Reverse were explosive, Radke paced back and forth vigorously across the stage as crowd surfers flew over the barricades toward security almost constantly throughout the 12-song set. The band looked and sounded fantastic, bright chaotic lighting set the tone as FIR played what seemed like hit after hit.

Falling In Reverse 19-1

Fans screamed the lyrics to songs “I’m not A Vampire”, “God, If You Are Above”, and “Drugs” at the top of their lungs. Radke often holds the mic out towards the crowd encouraging it. What was incredibly noticeable was Ronnie’s awe looking out into the crowd, many times during the set you could see and feel his gratitude, no ego just humble and grateful to be onstage.

Falling In Reverse ended the night with a thank you and the explosive closer “Popular Monster”.

Papa Roach 3-1

Closing out the night was the one and only Papa Roach, Jacoby Shaddix, and company that have been rocking arena’s around the world since 2000. The band is back with a new record titled Ego Trip which was released in April of this year.

These guys have put out tracks like “Kill The Noise” “Stand Up” and “Swerve” feat Fever 333, all getting some serious love on rock radio. This tour is the perfect opportunity to introduce their music to the new generation of fans of Falling in Reverse and Hollywood Undead.

Papa Roach hit the stage and played a nice array of material from all their albums, they started their set with “Kill The Noise” before kicking it back to “Getting Away With Murder”, Jacoby and the P Roach guys sound phenomenal as good as when I saw them early in their career. Shaddix hasn’t skipped a beat when it comes to vocals and the band is tight as hell.

The show is fun too with guest appearances by the roach and tour comrades Hollywood Undead joining the band’s set to replace Fever 333 on “Swerve” which was cool to see. As the set continues it becomes more and more apparent to old-school fans like me just how influential and important Papa Roach is to rock music both then and now.

Papa Roach 18-1

The guy’s covered all bases with “Dead Cell”, and “Forever”, and Jacoby even goes into the arena crowd and rocks with the fans through the entirety of “Face Everything and Rise”. They closed out the night in Reading, PA with the song that started it all “Last Resort”.

After attending the show it’s not hard to see why it’s one of the most popular and talked about summer tours. Check the tour dates on the band’s site HERE and get to a date if they’re coming to your area! You won’t regret it!
