NoMBe: CHROMATOPIA is the nurturing we need

Perfect Timing
As we head into what seems like the second year of chaotic change, directly due to the impact of the pandemic and all kinds of reactions, it’s so pleasantly soothing to listen to a new album with depth that flows, without any unpleasant chaos.

NoMBe’s’ new album, CHROMATOPIA,  released 05/07/21, is, by no means, a shallow pop jam. He shows us how we are going to be alright as he reaches us with every song on this album.

Who is NoMBe?
NoMBe is an epithet from his name, Noah McBeth. He’s a creative thirty-year-old composer, artist, and producer, born in Germany, living in Los Angeles. His videos are uniquely creative and, while he never needs to mention Chaka Khan is his godmother, why wouldn’t he share such an inspiring relationship? He’s classified in Soul and Alternative genres while his music tells us he’s much more than this. His sophomore album is CHROMATOPIA and yes, it is also available on vinyl.

CHROMATOPIA
This album lists fourteen songs, including “Chromatopia A,” “Chromatopia B,” and “Chromatopia C,” all of which are comforting instrumental interludes between several songs which are enchanting, from both musical and lyrical perspectives.

Do check out his video for “Weirdo” which is fun and reflects many couples being their loving selves during lockdown from COVID. The lyrics are authentically normal, playful, and loving, while the video shows moments of what so many couples have been doing during this past year.

“Something to Hold Onto” and “Prototype,” show us the sides of relationships, from wanting to be there for our other while wanting them to be there for us, and  being a better version of ourselves.

It’s pretty much impossible to not want to dance along with “Heels” even if that dance is bopping in your chair or tapping a foot.

“To The Moon” is my favorite of all, with lyrics that give the opportunity to envision,  the mixture of funky guitar, clever keys, and a great beat. This song also illustrates why NoMBe doesn’t fit into one genre.

“Paint California” had a video release in 2019, and is supported by over four thousand fans, and showcases NoMBe’s brilliance as a composer, performer, and producer, while he has us floating in the air of possibilities of taking our time to explore surrounding opportunities without stifling imagination.

The last song on the album, “Happy Birthday, Frank!” is beautiful classical piano.  NoMBe shared his story behind this song, on his Instagram account, about how he worked on this for five years, yet just could not quite finish it to his liking until he was hired to play for Frank Ocean’s thirtieth birthday.

Summary
In a world where too many albums have songs that sound too similar, CHROMATOPIA does the opposite, and that is one of the many reasons to buy it. If you want it on vinyl, NoMBe offers the opportunity to text your name and order receipt for an autograph – 3104558484. https://store.nombemusic.com/
