The first to perform was Ximena Sariñana, a Mexican singer-songwriter, actress, and musician. Beginning with just a keyboard and her impressive vocals, she immediately gained control of the crowd in a way that is rare for an opening act. Showcasing her unique blend of pop, jazz, and indie music influences, she was later joined by two other band members, increasing the energy and audience engagement.

Mon Laferte’s set began with a teaser for her upcoming documentary with Netflix, MON LAFERTE, te amo. The film, set to be released in August, is directed by Camila Grandi and Joanna Reposi Garibaldi and produced by Jaime Villarreal and José Antonio San Miguel. The trailer highlighted behind-the-scenes moments from Laferte’s 2021-2022 tour, a huge point in the artist’s career and personal life, coinciding with her first pregnancy. The trailer left the audience gasping and cheering as themes of the singer’s family history, her origins as an artist, and her experience of womanhood were shown on screen. “Why am I getting emotional?” one fan even remarked.

Of the many guests who performed throughout the night, the brass section that supported many of her songs stood out the most. Perfectly executing both heart-wrenching songs and upbeat pop numbers, the saxophonist and trombonist won MVP awards for the night, adding irreplaceable emotion and depth to the production on stage.
