MerleFest Day 2 Brings Sunshine and Storms
Friday Highlights Included Sizzling Sets From Scythian, Marcus King, The Avett Brothers, and More
The second day of MerleFest got underway as the sun shone down upon us which was a welcoming sight for all. After a rainy opening day, we were all ready for a nice day, but the sun wasn’t the only thing bringing the heat. Friday brought a full day of hot music from all 12 stages with a little something for everyone.
In true MerleFest tradition, the Traditional Stage was open and bringing us some of the best artists in traditional music and that wasn’t all. With all the stages going on, it was hard to choose which artists to go see. Fortunately, the setup of the festival offers an opportunity for many artists to play on different stages at different days and times so there’s a good chance if you missed someone that you could catch them somewhere else during MerleFest. A storm blew through in the afternoon shortening Scythian’s set but once the weather threat passed us, everything got going quickly with all the artists getting a chance to play.
