Let’s Go 2024 Weekend Wrap-up

Day 2 & 3

A weekend of great music at Let’s GO Festival is over and we’re back to the morning commute.  Overall, the weekend was a great experience with little to criticize.  The Anne Arundel County Fairground was welcoming and approachable.  Perfect weather. Great food options with short lines, friendly staff, and free parking within a few minutes of the gate. The staggering of sets and careful planning at the Annapolis festival allowed fans to hear each musical act, which was cleverly split between three distinct days of rock subgenres.  Friday boasted a heavily pop-punk bill with Dashboard Confessional and Taking Back Sunday headlining. Saturday transitioned into a day of indie marked by COIN, The Band Camino, Almost Monday, The Revivalists, and more.  Sunday was marked by grunge/hard rock sounds from Daughtry, Our Lady Peace, and Gavin Rossdale’s iconic Bush.

Here are five of our musical highlights from the weekend portion of Let’s GO Music Fest:

The Revivalists closed out the festival Saturday night. Their cover of MGMT’s “Time to Pretend” was a festival high. You’ll have to catch them on this tour to hear their Americana rendition of the song. They closed out the night with a three-song encore including their memorable “Wish I Knew You” and newer hit “Kid”.

Speaking of kids, the School of Rock opened Sunday with a band of talented and dynamic music students.

You’ll find School of Rock booking opening acts at festivals all summer long. For Let’s GO, they held a battle of the bands contest among local Maryland franchises to win a chance to perform at the festival, and their Columbia branch took the stage on Sunday.

During their performance, one singer warned the crowd that they were about to get “heavier” before launching into System of a Down’s “Toxicity”, helping some of the early risers on Sunday get their adrenaline going to start the final day.

Best of all, the kids stayed around the festival throughout the day and were seen front-row for Bush later in the night.

Seeing Almost Monday at the satellite Magothy Stage, who had the crowd singing “Sun Keeps on Shining”, “Cough Drops”, and “Sunburn”.  It did seem puzzling to see a band with so many good, recognizable songs limited to a 30-minute slot on the smaller stage.

We would have loved to hear “Broken People” along with others as a part of a longer set, although it was nice to be able to see them up close.  Opportunities like that will be few and far between in the future.

Back-to-back sets from The Band CAMINO and COIN. Fans packed the Chesapeake Main Stage to hear the indie bands Saturday evening for two high-energy sets festival.

During “Crash My Car, COIN frontman Chase Lawrence climbed up the stage structure in a 21 Pilots-like fashion, making it about halfway up the stage in the closing moments of their performance.

The Band CAMINO announced a new album and tour coming soon but warned the crowd that they weren’t going to be saving the live debut of new music for the upcoming tour.

Fans still rejoiced as the singing duo of Jeffery Jordan and Spencer Stewart took turns leading “1 Last Cigarette”, “I Think I Like You”, “Roses”, and more.  They closed out with “Daphne Blue” as the sunset.

Last but not least, a heartwarming moment on Sunday came from Daughtry, who took to the stage Sunday with his daughter to sing a duet of “Waiting for Superman”.

Daughtry recently put out new music “Pieces,” which he played during his set, along with some of his older hits like “It’s Not Over,” and “Over You”.
