Knock, Knock! Who’s There? It Just Might Be Testarossa

Charlotte Rockers Address Suicide Awareness With Latest Single “Knocking Outside Your Door”

A staple of the Carolina music scene, Testarossa plays good old-fashioned rock and roll just the way you remember it.  Their songs are chock full of sing-a-long choruses, unforgettable riffs,  stellar guitar leads, and a rhythm section that knows how to keep this well-oiled machine performing at peak capacity, much like their namesake sportscar.

The band’s latest single “Knocking Outside Your Door” is all that but so much more. It’s no doubt that the tune is top-notch with its jangling guitars and toe-tapping beats, but it’s the lyrics and the story behind the song that really drive this one home. The song tells the story of bass guitarist Blake Webb’s chance encounter with a stranger.

The song is based on a real event. Blake’s (Bassist) brother (Justin) was driving in the pouring rain when he noticed a kid in his work uniform walking beside the road. Feeling like he should help the kid out, Justin offered him a ride. The kid said yes and jumped in the car to get out of the weather. Justin made small talk with the passenger and even stopped at a gas station to get him a coffee. The kid said he was headed to work, so Justin then proceeded to take him to his workplace. As the kid stepped out of the car, he pulled a gun. Justin was startled as the kid said, “I was going to kill myself in the bathroom stall at work, but you giving me a ride completely changed my outlook on things. Thanks man.” The kid shut the door and walked away.

So the moral of this real event is, you never know the impact you can have on someone’s life on any given day. Treating people with kindness can literally save their life.

It’s a powerful story and the message is clear. Everything we do in our daily lives can make a difference. One simple act of kindness can change the course of someone’s life. Mental health is a serious issue affecting the entire world. Let’s all be a little kinder to each other.  All proceeds from the single will go to suicide prevention so download it today.

Lyrics:

He was walking alone

Lookin’ for a place to hide

Between the rain and his troubles

He couldn’t stay dry

Searchin’ for a break

Like the one in his soul

It’s somewhere out there

Or so he’s been told

Some days you wake up

And thought for sure you’d die

You try to make up

But can’t figure why

The sun won’t shine

I don’t know, You don’t know

What’s been knockin’ outside your door

Take it from me, then maybe you’ll see

You ain’t gotta take it anymore

So I pulled on over Introduced myself

Said he needed a ride

And I was happy to help

He said he’d never had

That many friends

But the one’s he had

He’ll never see again

As he walked away

He pulled his daddy’s gun

Said he was gonna end it all

But since he hitched a ride

It didn’t seem like much fun

To end it in a bathroom stall

Every little thing gonna be alright
