Journey Celebrates 50 Years

The Freedom Tour Makes A Stop In D.C.

Date: March 1st, 2023

Venue: Capital One Arena

Washington, DC

50 years. There aren’t many bands that exist today that have lasted 50 years and even fewer that are still touring. But much like their music, Journey has lasted the test of time thanks to incredible songs, memorable hooks, and an amazing fan base. Since forming in 1973 there’s no arguing they’re the creators of some of the most well-known songs on earth. With the release of albums such as Escape as well as Frontiers in the early 80s, it was hit song after hit song. Many of them are still among the most streamed today and are certainly fan favorites at karaoke bars.

There’s no mistaking a Journey song when it comes on the radio as the voice of original lead singer Steve Perry, and now Arnel Pineda have such distinct tones. While the lead singer may have changed, the music and the shows have not. In fact, just last year Journey released their first album in over 10 years with Freedom. Within it, you can find that classic Journey sound, mixed with new explorations and variations of rock still maintaining the synths, guitar riffs, and large vocals.

On this 50th-anniversary celebration tour, you can expect to hear a mix of songs spanning their entire catalog. Blend that range of music with Neal Schon’s iconic guitar solos (there are a few), Jonathan Cain on the keys, and Arnel’s high-energy moves, enthusiasm, and vocals and you’ve got a show you do not want to miss!

The Freedom Tour is making its way across the United States this spring and if you’ve got the chance to experience it you better not miss it. There’s nothing like experiencing “Lights” live in an arena or the massive sing-along moments that come with “Don’t Stop Believing” or even the magical way that Schon leads us into “Wheel In The Sky” by way of an Amazing Grace guitar solo. Simply amazing.

You’ll hear some of the stories of how your favorite songs came to be. One of which was sparked by a bus ride in 1982 while the crew was missing home and their loved ones and has since evolved to show support for our troops. You guessed it “Faithfully.” So grab your tickets and make sure you’re on time and ready for a full show filled with hits because you don’t want to miss a single minute of this amazing show.

Along with Journey on this tour getting the crowd amped up each night is another legendary rock group with a pure burst of energy and positivity, Toto. With an iconic opener such as them, you better make sure to be there when it says the show starts and this crew is ready to rock with chart-topping hits for a set lasting almost an entire hour.

Bring your singing voice because you’ll get warmed up with some of their most well-known songs such as “Hold the Line” and “Rosanna.”  With this group of Grammy-winning musicians, you’ll be jamming out, as their band consists of all-star musicians. With members that have toured with the likes of Huey Lewis, Ringo Starr, Snoop Dogg, and even Prince, you know you’re in for a treat. Don’t worry, you’ll certainly have a moment with them that you won’t forget as the entire venue sings along to “Africa.”
