Exclusive Artist Interview: Robin McAuley
Powerhouse Rock Vocalist Chats About New Solo Album Alive
Rock vocalist Robin McAuley is probably best known for being the powerhouse voice in the McAuley Schenker Group in the late eighties and early nineties alongside legendary guitarist Michael Schenker. Add in his time with Survivor, Far Corporation, and Grand Prix and it’s easy to see that Robin’s skills run far and wide. His vocal prowess is second to none and until recently he spent seven years proving that five nights a week in the Las Vegas show “Raiding the Rock Vault.” He’s also the voice behind the new rock supergroup Black Swan along with Reb Beach and Jeff Pilson.
Robin is also a successful solo artist and that is where he truly shines. He recently released his latest solo venture Alive and it’s one of my early picks for album of the year. Full of melodic hooks and soaring vocals, Alive is a terrific showcase for what Robin can do. Add in a roster of fantastic musicians with Andrea Seveso on guitars, Alessandro Del Vecchio on bass and keyboards, and Nicholas Papacicco on drums and you have a recipe for rock and roll greatness. Anthems “Feel Like Hell” and “Alive” will have you on your feet with your fists pumping in the air and “Can’t Go On” will have you feeling all the emotions that a great ballad brings.
Shutter 16 had the opportunity to chat with Robin and find out all the details of the new record as well as an update on Black Swan. Click below to watch the interview in full.
