Dustin Lynch Brings Killed The Cowboy Tour To Charlotte

Country Singer-Songwriter Opens The 2024 Concert Season At Skyla Credit Union Ampitheatre

After a long and rainy winter, Charlotte music fans eagerly anticipated the official start of the 2024 outdoor concert season, and what better way to kick things off than with a hot country show courtesy of Dustin Lynch? Dustin is out touring in support of his latest release, Killed The Cowboy, and stopped here in the Queen City at Skyla Credit Union Ampitheatre to get the concert season off to a whopping start.

The weather forecast was calling for heavy downpours and possible thunderstorms for most of the day Thursday, but as the day went on only a few light showers could be found. Once I got parked and situated, I glanced behind me and saw the very dark clouds approaching. Oh no! It got darker and darker and finally, the sky opened up and I could see people running with rain ponchos and whatever they could find to stay dry. Fortunately, the concert gods were on our side, and by showtime, the weather turned and all was right in the world.

Skeez 5

Getting things started was the very charismatic Skeez. Taking the stage with his band in tow, Skeez quickly got the party started. His music is a wonderful combination of all things. You can hear pop, rock, country, and R&B influences throughout his songs making for a unique mix that is truly his own.

Skeez 9

Taking his spot behind the center mic, Skeez’s personality shined through the night like a diamond in the rough. Lighting a cigarette, plastic cup in hand, Skeez worked his magic on the crowd as he led the band through a short but rock-solid set of tunes. Finishing up with “Happy To Be Here,” the vibe was definitely on and I couldn’t help but think, so am I Skeez, so am I. If you’re heading out to a show, be sure to get there early to check out Skeez. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

After a short break to allow the crew to remove the plastic from the equipment on stage, it was time for Dustin Lynch to light up the night. The lights went down and a variety of visual clips played across the giant LED screen at the rear of the stage as a narrative began to play. This introduced the first song of the evening and the title track off Dustin’s latest album “Killed The Cowboy” as a spotlight shone on the top level of the stage as Dustin appeared before the microphone and got things rolling to thunderous applause.

Lynch was in fine form for the performance. His vocals sounded amazing as he worked his guitar for the fans. A dazzling light show accompanied the music as Dustin was awash in yellow light beams from all directions and it became clear that this wasn’t going to be just a concert. We were going to be in for one hell of a show!

A large set of stairs led down to the lower level of the stage as Dustin made his way down for “Seein’ Red” as dark, red lights flooded the stage. This was Lynch’s first opportunity to interact with the crowd as he flashed the devil horns high in the air and got up close and personal with the fans in the general admission pit.

The crowd was absolutely into it and having a great time. Beers and cellphones were held high in the air as people danced and sang all night long. The set list took us on a journey through the highlights of Dustin’s catalog as the visuals and lighting changed with each and every song, adding to the mood and the overall vibe of the night.

Of course, Lynch saved two of his most loved songs for the end as he wrapped up an incredible evening of music with “Thinkin’ Bout You” and “Small Town Boy.” What a spectacular show, it was magnificent in every way. Check out the dates below for a show near you and be sure to Stay Country Y’all.
