Shutter 16 Magazine Chats With Ash About Latest Album Half Black Heart

Fans of alt metal band New Years Day had been waiting a long time for a new record. Finally, the wait is over with the recent release of the band’s latest studio album Half Black Heart. An auditory and visual masterpiece, the new album and accompanying videos are a true showcase for New Years Day and what the band has to offer. Spinning tales of darkness and light, the listener is taken on a journey that will have them doing a deep dive into their own lives.

The newest single “Fearless” is about being just that, frontwoman Ash Costello shares: “’Fearless’ is my ultimate anthem for empowerment. Whenever I need a confidence boost and a reminder of my ability to overcome any challenge, this is the song I turn to. It’s a message that resonated with me personally during the writing process, and I wanted to make sure the message was clear and direct: we were all put on this earth to be fearless.”

The band is known for their energetic live performances and will be hitting the road with Lacuna Coil this spring as well as making stops at some huge festivals including Sonic Temple in mid-May.
