Em Beihold’s Maybe Life Is Good Tour Sells In Out D.C.
The Numb Little Bug Artist Sells Out First Headlining Show In D.C.
Em Beihold
“Do you ever get a little bit tired of” missing a rising star at a sold-out headline show? Chances are if you’ve been on social media the last couple of years you’ve heard the name Em Beihold. If you haven’t heard the name, it’s extremely likely you’ve heard her viral pop song “Numb Little Bug” online, in a store, or on the radio. While still fairly new to the music scene, Beihold has quickly risen in popularity due to her catchy songs, relatable personality, and ability to capture – let’s call them “life’s little quirks” – in song form. Beihold recently set off on her very first headlining tour and we were there as she visited D.C. and sold out The Atlantis.
The room was filled with fans spanning multiple age ranges from young friends to seasoned human beings. To get us started on this evening ride of fun there was the tune “Rollercoaster Make Me Sad” which was anything but sad as the crowd jumped and sang along in excitement to witness Beihold take the stage. Following that energetic kick-off was “12345” from her debut EP Egg in the Backseat before we transitioned to some new and unreleased music with a song titled “Extraordinary” sung like extra-ordinary.
As the evening continued she invited her friend (and the evening’s merch seller) Leah to the stage as they both performed a cover of Stephen Sanchez’s “Until I Found You,” flawlessly complementing each other. Then it was time for another new and unreleased song, appropriately named “Shiny New Things” proving itself to be an immediate hit and song that naturally demands you sing and dance along. She then took a few moments to connect with the crowd, get a few gifts from fans including a bracelet, and introduce us to her furry stuffed stage friend, a rat named Emmy.
Taking us to a slower tempo and more intimate moment was the song “Pedestal” as Beihold sat center stage on a stool while playing a mini guitar (no, it wasn’t a ukulele). In an effort to keep with the slower tempo but gradually build the energy back, “Spiderman” proved as the perfect transition song before the energy and dancing of “Egg in the Backseat” got the room bouncing, literally.
To close out the evening Beihold took a moment to speak of her experience as a college student and the stress and mental strain that comes along with that role and really any part of life. She then recognized the organization on-site for the evening, Active Minds, to which $1 from each ticket was being donated to support efforts in bringing mental awareness to college campuses.
Finally, as the night began to wrap, we were treated to Beihold’s latest single and the track the tour is named after “Maybe Life Is Good,” followed by the most anticipated song of the evening “Numb Little Bug.”
Will Linley
Alongside Em on this tour is 22 year old rising pop artist, Will Linley, all the way from Cape Town, South Africa. From the moment Will and his band took to the stage the energy erupted with the sounds of his latest EP’s title track “Magic” immediately filling the crowd with a dose of pure joy, accompanied by dancing.
The best way to explain Linley’s performance is that it was one that you walk away from the show and instantly add every song to your library because each one created such an amazing display of talent accompanied by a euphoric feeling.
In fact, his newest song isn’t even released yet (but it will be on April 5th) and it’s already a song we know will skyrocket him onto the charts and into thousands of new libraries. So make sure to give him a follow so you can hear “Blame” as soon as it releases. Then hear it live as he sets out on his own tour later this summer.
