Avenged Sevenfold Conquer The World’s Most Famous Arena
June 23rd, 2023 New York City, the world’s mecca for global entertainment got shook and thrown upside down courtesy of Avenged Sevenfold. The Rock/Metal genre shifting heavyweights took to the big stage. Selling out the world’s most famous arena Madison Square Garden. The band is fresh off the release of their latest album Life Is But A Dream which is their most ambitious record to date.
Avenged almost didn’t make the show due to a host of issues, one major being an issue with flights causing the band to not even be able to soundcheck ahead of the show.
With all obstacles in their way, that didn’t stop the rock titans from putting on one of the biggest shows of their career.
Fans packed into the sold out MSG catching openers Living Colour and Falling In Reverse, this NY show is part of a few warm up dates for the band which included a Danny Wimmer Presents festival appearance as well as a date in Los Angeles all before the band heads out on a full tour through July and August.
Avenged took the stage around 9:10pm, but before the crowd was treated to the Backstreet Boy’s “I Want It That Way” Blasting over the PA with the NY crowd seeing along in an odd turn of events. the stage massive in size accompanied by screens on the sides and back projecting everything from album artwork to fiery flames of fury as the backdrop.
M. Shadows and company kicked off the almost two hour long show with new tracks “Game Over” and “Mattel”, the show opening with Shadows sitting in a chair with a ski mask while Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance and Johnny Christ strut down the catwalk.
The show features 7 off of the new album Life Is But A Dream’s 11 songs which included “We Love You”, “(D)eath”, “(O)rdinary”, “Nobody”, and the show openers “Mattel” & “Game Over”.
Avenged then sprinkled in fan favorites from City of Evil, Hail To The King, The Stage, Nightmare, Self titled and “Unholy Confessions” from Waking The Fallen” which was a pleasant surprise.
The show features lots of shredding, lots of heavy, fast paced tracks and Avenged doing what they do best putting on a killer rock show.
