Lindsey Stirling Brings The Holiday Cheer To NJ With A Snow Waltz
The Snow Waltz Tour 2022
As they say “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”, well on Wednesday, December 7th that was even more true in the Garden State when Lindsey Stirling brought her Snow Waltz Tour to NJPAC in Newark, NJ. Every December as some music tours wind down, others like Stirling switch things up and do holiday shows and albums.
This year Stirling has blessed us once again with both the Snow Waltz album, which was released back in October and features reimagined holiday classics such as “Little Drummer Boy”, “Joy To The World”, “Deck The Halls” and much more as well as her Snow Waltz Tour which kicked off November 17th in Grand Prairie, Texas and will wrap up in Los Angeles on December 23rd.
Lindsey’s holiday shows are some of the Shutter 16’s staff favorites. Her tours allow for a night of music for the whole family and they’re kid friendly and entertaining beyond belief for adults as well. It’s a blast seeing the entire family in line and the best part, it’s an early show! The 90-minute performance kicked off at 8 pm and ended around the 9:30 pm mark making it early enough for school kids and working parents.
NJPAC in itself is a beautiful setting for a show like this and at 7:45 the doors opened to enter the theater, fans made their way to their seats, many very excited after VIPS got to meet the all-star violinist and get autographs before the show.
The show kicks off with a dimly lit stage washed out in blue lights and a house in which the drummer and keyboard player are on the roof. Stirling appears in the windows with her violin in hand and the show kicks off with the song “Sleigh Ride.” The theatrics for her shows are non-stop from dancers running around the stage to twirling on umbrellas high above the stage and confetti and snow. Stirling spares no expense to put on the perfect holiday performance that any age person can enjoy.
During songs like “Joy To The World,” Lindsey states she’s quite the Tiktoker referring to the popular social media platform and ask’s the New Jersey crowd “Will you make a tik tok with me?” The crowd happily obliges and Stirling teaches the crowd when to put their cell phone lights up for the video, it was quite hilarious to see.
You can see one of her Tik Tok videos here:
Then during “I Saw Three Ships” Stirling holds a boat race on stage with the NJ crowd verbally betting on the winner. More hilarity ensues for a portion of the show where she presents her band members with their Christmas presents. A large gift box is pushed to the stage and inside is a small drum set and tiny keyboards to go with Lindsey’s tiny violin she names Pickles. The three-piece then sits on the floor and plays classic holiday tracks like “Jingle Bells,” “Deck The Halls,” “Frosty The Snowman,” and“It’s Beginning To Look A lot Like Christmas.” Of course, you can’t forget the theme song to Harry Potter before kicking back into the holiday spirit with “Jingle Bell Rock.”
The show even features Lindsey showing off her vocal abilities during “Warmer in The Winter.” To think Lindsey Stirling has been able to top her holiday shows time after time with beautiful stage sets, new ways to make the crowd part of the show, stunning choreography, and of course the violinist herself with her beautiful renditions of holiday classics. This is still hands down one of my favorite holiday shows to attend year after year.
I highly recommend you grab grandma and the kids and have some great family time all together for a magical holiday experience courtesy of Lindsey Stirling and her incredible crew.
