Spend This Summer Exploring The Pop-Punk Vibes of The Interrogation

Exclusive Interview With Songwriter, Guitarist, and Vocalist Thomas Turner

New York native Thom Turner may be a long way from his Syracuse, NY roots but he has never strayed from his musical ones. In fact, you may remember Thom from his days in the Syracuse hardcore band Freya. Turner now calls the Pacific Northwest and Vancouver, British Columbia home and has thrown all his passion and fire for music into his new group The Interrogation.

Last year the band released Posters On My Wall, a solid EP that combines solid musicianship and stellar songwriting, giving us something positive to latch onto during the pandemic when so many of us sorely needed it. With influences that range from New Found Glory and Story of the Year to Coheed and Cambria, The Interrogation has a sound that is a unique blend of pop-punk with a dash of hardcore and a smidge of old school punk riffage. The band shines on every track whether it’s the harder-hitting “Final Mystery” that touches on feelings of alienation or the summer, feel-good song “Shine” that has the band reminiscing of summers gone by. Turner definitely wears his heart on his sleeve with “Summer Love (In Hell),” a song he wrote after his mother passed away. Musically, the song has an upbeat feel but lyrically Turner focuses on the depression he felt and the anger at seeing others going about their lives and enjoying the short-lived Pacific Northwest summer. If these songs are just the beginning of what is to come from The Interrogation, one can only wonder what delights await us around the next turn.

Coming sometime this year will be a music video created by the animators who work on “Rick & Morty” as well as some tour dates coming up for the fall months.
