Zip-lining, a Football Game, and Ryan Montbleau Celebrate Live Music at White Water Center

Ryan Montbleau at U.S. National White Water Center – 6.05.21

Last night at the White Water Center was a guitar-strumming, knee-slapping good time with Ryan Montbleau. It’s rare to go to a show where you stand on a small island surrounded by people white water rafting and zip-lining overhead—everyone with their sun-kissed skin swaying to the music.

Children’s laughter between strums could be heard and just like Montbleau found out – at any given time, a football game can break out in the usual area that is reserved for photographers to take all the photos.

He kept speaking to the wonderment of this small game happening right in front of the stage that kept growing, “This is quite a different show to play.” Welcome to the WWC!

Having not been keen on his performance in the flesh, I scoured the internet to do my due diligence and the come away is what a performer. Smartly written tracks with a clean vocal, a pristine guitar, and a soul you connect with instantly highlighted his set.

To fans of all folk, Americana, blues, a singer-songwriter with a heavy emphasis on the talented ones, you will get that all within Mr. Montbleau’s discography. He’s a treat to the ears with a smooth timbre. I felt Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and the soul of Amos Lee.

Montbleau, has a new EP, Fire, with a more pop-enthused feel than earlier recordings. If you are not familiar with his work, that is OK; he’s a master at doing familiar hits his way.

We were treated to Otis Redding’s “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” and Shaggy’s “Wasn’t Me” to the crowd’s chagrin. Anytime you can shake the goods and sing your heart out in the open air is a good night.

Add in the delicious taps flowing from the nearby restaurants and it’s a fun family-filled night of good food, good company, and stellar music.

Added bonus: Watching an adorable couple dance to the music like noone else in the world existed, the charming view caused a perma-grin and fit the entire vibe of the night.
