Post Malone Is A Rockstar at Philadelphia Runaway Tour Stop
Runaway Tour Leg 2
One of the world’s most multi-talented artists is back at it, the rockstar himself Post Malone is back on the road with his Runaway Tour featuring Swae Lee and Tyla Yaweh. After the success of the tour last year and the release of his critically acclaimed smash hit record Hollywood’s Bleeding, Post is currently one of the biggest musicians in the world.
It’s not surprising given his ability to play guitar with Aerosmith, have not one, but two tracks with the legendary Ozzy Osbourne and put out one of the best hip hop albums of the last decade. With all this Post Malone is still the same Posty we met in the beginning.
Malone is now kicking off 2020 the same way he left off 2019, on fire!
The Runaway Tour made a stop in the city of brotherly love Friday night (February 21st) and love was in the air from the Philadelphia crowd. As fans flooded the Wells Fargo Center with excitement, the arena’s environment was pure electricity.
Kicking of the night was Tyla Yaweh, Yaweh who is only 24 years old is quickly gaining a reputation as a rising singer/songwriter. The Orlando based artist has made his name putting out melodic R&B and Hip Hop with the attitude of an industry veteran.
Tyla recently released a brand new version of his single “High Right Now” along with a music video for the track that featured legendary musicians like Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Big Sean, Post Malone and more! The video has gained upwards of 2.6 million views in a few weeks time.
“High Right Now” is off of his debut project titled Heart Full Of Rage.
Tyla hit the stage to a roar from the crowd and cell phone lights illuminating the Wells Fargo Center. The 24 year old brings an energy of his own and carried himself through the set with a wild stage presence.
Yaweh could be seen jumping and running up and down the runway stage performing tracks like “Novacane”, “Salute” and the song “Take A Step Back” in tribute to fallen beloved rapper XXXTENTACION.
Next up was Swae Lee. It was a no-brainer that Swea Lee was on Leg 2 of the tour. Having recorded a song with Post Malone, the epic single “Sunflower” featured on Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack, which ended up being his first chart-topping single as a solo artist and has been included in Posty’s set.
And of course, he was an absolute hit with fans on the tour’s first leg. Tonight Swae was definitely a crowd favorite once again. People were out of their seats going hard for the Swaecation rapper. For those that do not know he is one half of the hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd. Last year he had some iconic collabs including being featured on Madonna’s new album and his current single “Won’t be Late,” featuring Drake.
Swae Lee didn’t slow down the energy in the slightest and fans were more than excited for him to hit the stage. Lee strutted down the catwalk with his one of a kind blinged out microphone and showed love to fans on both sides of the stage’s pit.
At one point Swae Lee even gave out roses to the ladies in the audience and encouraged their men to give them roses.
Swae Lee was wild, jumping and slamming his feet to the stage, spilling his cup of mystery liquid everywhere. The performance included hit tracks “Fury” and “Won’t Be Late” as well as cover tracks by artists like Wiz Khalifa, French Montana and Travis Scott.
It was time for the man himself to hit the stage as fans echoed the chant “Posty, Posty, Posty”. The lights went down and fog and strobe lights filled the Runaway Tour stage. The unique stage set up allows a great view of the action from any seat in the house and is a truly one of kind production.
The intro to the hit song “Hollywood’s Bleeding” began and Post Malone appears rising up from the bottom of the stage covered in fog and bright white strobe lights.
Post makes his way to the front of the stage and with one hop fireworks burst from the back of the stage.
Malone proves on this tour why he’s one of the biggest artists in the game right now with high energy and insane production and sound. Malone’s setlist is front to back stacked with hit songs like “Saint-Tropez”, the Halsey and Future collaboration track “Die For Me” and “Enemies”.
Post took various opportunities throughout the evening to sincerely thank the crowd for being there and making what he does possible. You can’t not respect the guy, he is a true artist.
At times the show slows down and Malone occasionally lights up a cigarette like for the song “I Fall Apart” where the crowd joins him belting out every word.
The performance included an unexpected acoustic performance of “Stay” as Posty asked the crowd “Can I play some guitar for y’all?” Moments like that showed the true passion and vocal capability of Malone.
Fans were also treated to a performance of the hit Ozzy Osbourne featured song “Take What You Want” which began with Ozzy’s face on the massive screens singing the song’s chorus and deep purple lighting and a ton of fire erupting from the back of the stage.
Swae Lee joined Post towards the end of the set for a performance of their hit “Sunflower” off the Spiderman soundtrack with Lee once again bringing out flowers for the crowd.
The 21 song set featured laser lights that appeared all through the arena and renditions of “White Iverson,” paying homage to the Philadelphia 76er Allen Iverson, as well as the classic Post Malone track “Rockstar”.
The Runaway Tour was a smashing success, one of the best shows I’ve seen in quite some time and a breath of fresh air and fun from beginning to end. I highly suggest if you have the opportunity to catch this show that you do. You won’t be disappointed. I walked in liking Post Malone and I left a huge fan with a ton of respect for him as a performer.
