Kenny Mason brings his Route 9 Tour to Philadelphia!
The Foundry in Philadelphia was the latest stop for Kenny Mason & DavidTheTragic on Tuesday, March 26th. The two are on the road for Kenny Mason’s ‘Route 9 Tour’, and the crowd in attendance was rocking all night long! From moshpits, encores, and surprise songs; tonight had everything a fan would want from a Kenny Mason show and more!
Born & Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, 29-year-old Edwin Kenneth Green Jr, known by his
stage name Kenny Mason, has been breaking ground in the music industry with his
unique blend of Hip-Hop, Trap, and Rock. Kenny has been making music since 2015,
officially breaking out on the scene with his 2019 single ‘Hit’. Since then, he’s released
his debut album ‘Angelic Hoodrat’ in 2020; followed by a number of successful projects
and EP’s. This includes his latest release of album ‘9’, which is the primary focus of this
tour! Apart from his personal projects, Kenny Mason has collaborated with the likes of
JID, Sheck Wes, J. Cole, Redveil, Paris Texas, and many more!
Accompanying Kenny on tour is his friend and fellow artist, DavidTheTagic. Born in
Broward, Florida, Xavier Henderson aka DavidTheTragic, is a 24-year-old musician also
from Atlanta, Georgia. David has been making waves in Atlanta’s underground scene
with his production ability and lyricism since 2019. Frequently collaborating with Kenny
Mason, David is responsible for producing his biggest track with Kenny ‘DIP!’ which has
gone on to rack up millions of streams worldwide since its release in 2022.
Opening for his show tonight for Philadelphia, DavidTheTragic did more than just warm
up the crowd; he set the standard. Performing many notable tracks from his
discography such as ‘Karma Real’ and ‘DRUGZ’, there was never a dull moment in the
crowd. One fan almost fell over the barriers because he was jumping so high to the
music. “Yall been great! Y’all might be my favorite crowd so far, deadass,” said David on
stage. The audience had been great, but the question remained; did they have enough
in the tank for Kenny Mason?
That answer was answered quickly; yes! The room was electric the moment Kennycame onstage. Audience members were screaming nonstop as he performed starting with the first track of the night, ‘NOSEDIVE’.“If somebody falls down, what do you do?” asks Kenny. “PICK THEM UP!, responds the Foundry.
Coming out swinging, Kenny Mason performed a total of 26 tracks on the night
showcasing many of his latest releases like ‘JUMPIN IN’ & ‘MONEY SIGNS’, as well as
running through classics. Kenny had fans leaping in the air and opening up mosh pits to
many of his notable favorites including ‘PULP FICTION, ‘GIVENCHY,’ ‘Stick’, and
‘SHELL’. Some fans even took it upon themselves to crowd surf in the audience!
During the show, DavidTheTagic was brought back out to perform ‘DIP!’ with Kenny
which he features in. Though the energy was intense and lively most of the show,
Kenny still made sure to take time with fans, giving them opportunities to connect with
him better. This included several moments where Kenny Mason would sing with a fan
up close. As well as an all-acapella chorus to “333’, which saw the whole venue singing
in unison without instrumental tracks.
By the end, fans had still wanted to hear more from the artist. “ONE MORE SONG” was
being chanted out by the crowd for a full minute after he left. “F*ck it imma do one
more”, responded Kenny. To their surprise, Kenny had decided to return for an encore
which featured another playthrough of ‘Stick’ as well as ‘Metal Wings’. In the end, fans
got more than what they were promised by stopping by Route 9, and the memories
made at this show will be unforgettable for many, if not all in attendance.
